Title: 3DMM Director's War Company: A 3DMM Production organised by Sims Odom Genre: Action Reviewed by MidbackMan Summary: A large group of people apparently got together and put together their collective 3dmm talents to create this movie which I can't as of yet decide whether it is good, bad or just plain ugly. Scale: 1 to 10: Very Bad (Avoid this movie like Dog with Rabies) 11 to 20: Bad (Download when your extremely bored) 21 to 30: Its okay (If you got the time, download it) 31 to 40: Good (Download it, you'll like it) 41 to 50: Very Good (Download it!, you WILL like it!!) NOTE: If you're reading this review and I know that you are then you must agree that the opinions of this review are that of MidbackMan and not necessarily of anyone else in the community. If you wanna argue about anything I've said in this article then please take it up with the management of Review Central and not myself. Review: PART ONE: I used to have a subscription to a magazine called Nintendo Power a long time ago that I didn't stop subscribing to until they started doing stuff on the N64 and by that time I had delved further in PC Gaming and decided not to involve myself in the world of crappy console games. Don't ask me to get into it. Before I had stopped my subscription Nintendo Power had released a few video tapes of games that Nintendo was working on. First it was a 30 minute documentary on Donkey Kong, then they sent subscribers a couple videos on upcoming games that Nintendo had coming out for the N64. Now, at this point you're wondering what the hell the point of this... Well, if you must know there is a point and I am about to get to it. This came to me while watching the movie. The acting in the Nintendo Power video tapes was of better quality than that in 3DMM Director's War. Forgetting that in the Nintendo tapes the actors were showing distinctive speech patterns to show emotion on purpose albeit a little over the top but in DW, as it has become known - the voice actors seem to almost be saying lines for completely different parts. I may be the only one who noticed this and if you didn't please do not get all bitchy with me it's just what I felt. If the acting was a prime example of the talent we have in the 3DMM community it can be summed up in one word: Crap. The scenery was fairly bland and obnoxious at times as it seemed it was repeated over and over and over again just for kicks. The camera moved around a lot (not that there was a lot on the scene to move since the scenes got fairly plain at times) and most of the time I felt it was totally innapropriate and didn't help make the movie anymore enjoyable. Someone might get confused and call this good animation. Well, I call it moving crap around for a few frames then standing still for three quarters of the rest of the scene and looping the same machine gun effect over and over while two spheres change color to indicate that something is actually happening and we're not watching a slide-show. The music, arrgh. Whole songs that didn't even span the entire scene sometimes. The music didn't always fit with the action or suspense it was trying to display and the songs themselves were pretty dull stuff in this person's opinion. No more on the music do I want to say. The story in the movie wasn't bad. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. For a 3dmm movie I've seen a LOT worse. A bunch of 3dmm Directors resort to violence and try to force Microsoft and all of its employees to make a 3dmm2 and to do so they have to destroy all of Microsoft's Offices which seem to take place in every location except where the offices are actually located... Who knows why they are resorting to violence, maybe they don't know how to write a letter or make a phone call. With their millions of dollars worth of Artillery and Helicopters you'd think they could afford a long distance phone call to Bill Gates. Which brings me to my next point. I didn't know Microsoft had guards everywhere running through the woods, sitting on Gunnery Boats, and manning Machine Guns. That's interesting. PART TWO: What the hell? Why is this movie broken into two parts? Did Sims think it was absolutely necessary that we spend even more time opening an entirely new movie? God, hasn't anyone heard of Winace? Okay, well I've just finished watching part 2 and I naturally have my own perspective and comments on it. Part two was a not so gripping conclusion to the 3DMM Director's War. It was a really short movie not worthy to be considered its own part. Of course, the big bad daddy of baddies died and the Producer of 3DMM - being so frightened of the 3DMMers decided to just let them have a 3DMM2. I don't doubt that he probably called the National Guard after the 3DMMers decided to leave. Okay, once again as in part one the voices were tright and useless. The few voicing appearances made seemed to describe the obvious, something 3DMMers apparently aren't quite all that good at with all of the sarcasm displayed in the community that I've seen... Arrrgh, the second part was better in the animation department but it was too short. If you have the option however I would very much recommend downloading just the second part and skip the entire first part with its useless sub-plots and misleading voice acting. I'm sorry to have written a book but sometimes I get so passionate about things I hate. Story: 6/10 Graphics: 6/10 Creativity: 5/10 Voices: 3/10 Music: 2/10 Total: 22/50 (Twenty-Two) The Movies Highs: *A compilation of talent from a rather large group of Directors which is cool in my book. *A few scenes weren't bad *Highs? Well, this movie made me want to get high to forget it. The Movies Lows: *A compilation of talent from a rather large group of Directors who are better on their own. *Voices were a lack of actual talent. *Scenery got boring after a while Bottom Line: OH MY GOD GET THIS FUNGUS OFF OF MY HARD DRIVE! I can't believe I sat through this thing. It's so god damned long. Maybe if it were smaller and shorter I would have enjoyed it more. Part one is riddled with annoying sub-plots that just make it boring. Skip to part two.
