Title: Doom 2: The Awakening Company: JP Genre: Short Film Reviewed By: Redwampa Summary: 9/10 The second installment of Doom brings the terrors of Mars back to Earth. As the story starts off we find that our main character from the first movie has survived and has started a new life back on Earth. Little does he know that forces far greater than he can comprehend are at work and hell bent on Earths destruction. Watching this movie was almost like watching a real movie for me, the way people act with a certain shot, the way the camera moves as you would expect it to if you were watching a real film (well, I guess I shouldnt say "expect" more like "feels right or natural, you just know when something works and when it doesn't"). There insnt much action like in the first installment but its direction and scene construction more than make up for it... twice over in some places. The film even manages to be much longer than its predecessor and much more creative in the way it tells a story. The only thing I didn't like about the film was the voice acting, not that the voice acting was bad, on the contrary. I just think it didnt need it, infact I kinda hated it when they first started talking.... but eventually got used to it. Its a shame cause I really admired JP for going against the status quote and not using voices, that and just using text seems to fit his films so well. Anyway, bottom line I liked it, short and simple as that.
