Title: Doom Company: JP Genre: Short Film Reviewed By: Redwampa Summary: 8.5/10 I loaded this thing up at about 3:00 in the morning and decided to just watch the first few scenes of it before calling it a night. To my surprise I was quickly drawn into the film with its low-key sound track and interesting use of editing. The fact that it doesn't have voices didn't ruin it for me at all, infact for some reason I was kinda glad it didn't have voices so I could listen to the sound track and read the occasional dialog. Very nicely directed as well. Now call me slow witted but I just didn't get what was going on with the population on Mars. Everyone disappears and the only people left are the two visitors and 3 others as they battle some invisible foe with missiles and wits. Was Mars some dimension of hell? Was this film trying to pull a "Event Horizon" twist on me? And what was the deal with the clone of the other guy towards the end? Is it a representation of the good and bad side of human nature? Or that Mars was an alternate Earth with the same people but in different forms on another plain of existence? To me this was a nod toward "Event Horizon" with its "another world you cant really see but I'll drop subtle hints along the way to clue you in" kind of approach. Don't get me wrong its a great film and all, even has a hair raising part in the middle that really did give me goose bumps and its entire atmosphere is all eerily. Bottom line, I guess Im just to tired to get the full meaning of this film....maybe it doesn't have a meaning at all.....anyway, I'll upload it and probrobly find out later just how wrong I was in reviewing this movie.
