Title: Death of the Newbie Company: Gorosaurus, Fred Arnoy, Josh Byrd, and JP Genre: Short Films Reviewed By: Redwampa Summary: 8.5 (spoilers ahead) A film created by the "newbs" of the community, its a compilation really of about 4 films on how each "newb" will die. The beginning is nicely done with nice star effects that Ive never seen before as a lone "newb" I guess walks across a barren stretch of earth. He manages to come across some sort of tomb...or shrine buried within the earth, on each tombs it reveals a story of how each "newb" dies. The first film "FAST FOOD MASSACRE" is really crap, but its slightly entertaining none the less. Made to look like it was created in 1997 it deals with a restaurant that has a special meal on the menu. After people go missing a detective goes in to investigate. Made almost entirely out of premade scenes and with corny voice acting its almost hard not to laugh at the shear stupidity of the movie. But Im guessing that was done on purpose. :D The second film "PHOBIAS" deals with a man and his fears of certain things. Forced to finnaly confront them in a totally animated world of giant spiders, kude's (sp?), and terrain that looks like mother board he tries to evade their animated grasp. The high point in this movie is obviously the animated world, my favorite part that even surprised me was when the animated character jumps over the spider in slow motion and at the same time lightning strikes in the background (which was done superbly, the lightning I mean). The music was also nicely chosen and even Goro's voice entertaining to listen to. The third film "RENEGADE" has a man on a mission to recover a stone (I think, or was it a jewel?), to do this he must land on a planet and venture deep into some sort of abandoned structure underground. Little does he know what is down there, waiting for him. The fourth film "VICTIM OF CIRCUMSTANCE", its basically what ties all the films together and meshes with "Renegade" for one of the best scenes in the entire movie. Bottom Line: Im looking forward to a second installment.
