Title: Ghost in the Shell Director: Redwampa & Spencer Crabb Reviewer: Tuna Hematoma Depth - 15/15 Animation - 9/10 Music - 10/10 Sound Effects - 6/10 Balance - 9/10 Innovation - 9/10 Extras - 5/5 Total - 63/70 (4.5 Fish) Okay, okay... so it's taken me forever to review this movie, but LOOK! THIS IS A REVIEW! YAY!!! AND I LIKED IT! YES I DID! ...okay, I'll stop with the retard talk and get on with the review. I am not "into" anime, but I enjoy it. I saw GITS when I was younger, but the only thing I remember from it is me going, "THEY JUST SHOWED HER BOOBS!"... so I have no idea what THIS GITS is about/based on. The only thing I know is that whenever Redwampa makes a movie, you know it's going to be good. The only question I had if this might be "not as good", is if Spencer Crabb could keep up with Red. That's not to say Crabb isn't good, it's just that he has a very high tendency of being average with action scenes. I am happy to say that, for the most part, you can't tell who made what scenes and the action sequences are very generally entertaining. My only gripes with the movie, as you can tell by the score, was the sound effects and some of the voice actors. A lot of the sounds were either inappropriate or well known sounds from games, or other 3dmm movies. Usually I don't care, but a lot of the sounds just didn't go well, AT ALL with the scenes. Like, in the beginning, during the scene when the cyborg jumps off the building and turns invisible. Motoko makes a "KURPLUNK" type sound while landing on a puddle in the street. Now... how exactly do you make a kurplunk sound with a small puddle??? That just confused me. What also confused me is that... isn't Mokoto a girl? Why did Jaymond do the voice? Or is it a guy? I have no idea... damn 3dmm character being metrosexual. Anyway, I'm too lazy to look at the credits to remember who played who, but there was one guy (evil dude with funky eye), well... he sounded like an angry Harry Potter and it just made me laugh everytime he talked. Then there were others who were very, "I-am-reading-from-a-script" sounding, which is normal, but for the longer talking scenes, it was rather noticeable. People doing the sub-main/small roles did a good job... especially Redwampa, holy poo, I had no idea he was such a good voice actor! Speaking of Redwampa being AWESOME AT EVERYTHING, as usual, the animation and scenery are extremely well done and the eye candy never stops... but Red/Crabb, dudes... whenever there are 2 people fighting physically, like, with their body and not EVIL GUNS, it's so bland and nothing about their fighting is special. Most of the time it's just one person out with the Karate-Kick position and someone getting hit. That wasn't fun to see... so it was a good thing that there were plenty of fun scenes of people getting shot at and dodging various projectiles. The only thing that "brought down" this movie, as I said earlier, are few of the voice actors and some of the sound effects. If they were improved, this movie would have definately gotten a SUPERFISH! That being said, this still gets 4.5 fish from me, which is very much with the goodness! This gets my Greater Tuna Recommendation and even if you're like me and don't know what the hell the anime GITS is about, you'll still really enjoy this and probably be on your top 10 list of fav movies.
