MASK OF RAGE Reviewed By: David Smith Directed by Andres de la Hoz *1/2 Man, this movie blew! Why? Let me explain. When this came out, I was all hyped to see it. But what I saw was shit... The plot goes like this: A supernatural killer murders all these guys with the same tattoo. Meanwhile, the cops have to stop them. The main cop (played by Jeff Ching)is having problems because of his wife's death. Yes, the plot for this movie is very smart and well thought-up. The music score (not the heavy metal) is very well picked. The gore is well done, too. But here is what really sucked about this movie: The animation is the worst I've seen in a long time! The moving camera moves all wrong. The scenes are set up so unprofessionally. The end scenes especially are just so rushed and shittily made. The scene changer is so annoying! Instead of the usual "cut" to the next scene, Andres makes it fade! Man, that was annoying. It was almost every scene, too! The "heavy metal" (notice the quotes) soundtrack is so lame and poorly picked. Very un-needed for the movie's plot. Sometimes, the music is up so loud you can't hear the characters speak. The voice acting is okay. Jeff Ching did an OK job (listen to the last line! It's the worst voice acting to date!), Tuna Hematoma and Brad Ross did well, too. But the other voices were toned down! Tip for Andres- put the voice on other props to make it louder and more audible. I have no clue why this was considered a horror movie! It's more like anaction/suspense! It has your typical action movie plot. Horror movie plots are different. Andres' other movie, Asylum, IS horror, not MOR! Andres should stop making these kind of films. Not recommended for TRUE horror fans.
