Title:Alternate Vlarion 3 Company/Director: Ultima Productions/Aaron Haynes What the Hell is it: Fantasy/Adventure, "RPG in a movie" Reviewed by MidbackMan Scale: 5 to 10: Very Bad A film of just terrible Quality; Don't bother 11 to 20: Bad A few slightly redeeming qualities but still not worth your time 21 to 30: It's okay Very ordinary technical stats; Not worthless but not great 31 to 40: Good Above average; Usually recommended to the fan of the specific genre 41 to 50: Very Good Well worth your attention; Content and design are spectacular Review: D00d, i know ppl complained that there were no voices and ppl didn't wanna stick through it. I say, I did and I've not seen a better 3dmm fantasy storyline or better animation than in this movie. I liked the animation better than, say, the average Pikios movie, or to compare to a movie more of it's own ilk, more than Alpha Z 2 and 3 did I like this movie. Okay, the animation = BAM! amazing! I mean, CHRIST! You have to watch this movie! The problem with it is, though, is that the great action and animation in this movie isn't present in EVERY SINGLE FRAME so you'll have to sit through some of the movie first before you get to see it. In my review of the movie before this one, Alternate Vlarion 2, I gave out the exact scenes and frames in the movie you could skip to in order to see the action. Here, I ain't-ah doin' that. This movie is so worth seeing anyway, it's a DEFINITE must download and is for sure awarded a Midback's Steakhouse Seal of Approval! but... most people probably won't want to sit through the talking scenes unless they know something about the story in the first place and have seen the previous two movies (or at least the AV2). If you HAVE seen AV1 & 2 (or just 2) and sat through them fully, no prob. By the way, this movie is about ten times better than the previous movie in the series. BUT! if you're the type of person who only wants to see the action, you'll probably watch the first minute of it, decide it's boring and turn it off. Note: DON'T DO THAT! I COULD tell you where to go to see the action scenes, but it's ten times better if you're in on the story. Trust me on this. The story is written EXTREMELY well and I've not seen better writing in any movie, hell, most REAL movies, 3dmm movies, and RGPs (which this movie is some sort of tribute to - RPGs.) aren't written this nicely. Not one iota of it is cheesy or stupid. Even the jesting between characters are done perfectly, and make a rather fun movie experience. It's like reading a really good book but with animation to go with. AV3, and the others in the series (since it is a series) are about these d00ds who are on some quest to stop these dudes with some vials that turn 'em into some sort monsters with insane powers and the movie is presented in a sort of RPG sense, as I mentioned before. The main characters, the good guys, go about and end up fighting various "bosses" and other characters and there is this whole thought out story about each of the characters. In AV2, most of the story was revolved around a few characters who joined the group of good guys, and a bunch of bad guys, one who was a main boss and wasn't yet defeated in that movie. In this sequel, the main bad guy boss' story kind of goes away (after he's killed of course) and the story goes off onto this whole other area. It's really a very intricate and detailed plot, as you'll notice when the whole can of beans is spilled onto your plate in one really long scene where the good guys are explained to what is going on by another mysterious character who you'll see at a couple points in the movie, starting with the beginning and then again near the end. The previous Alternate Vlarion I watched (number 2 in the series) was only about HALF this good! If you watched through that movie, and have yet to see this, but don't care to because the last one turned you off. WATCH THIS IMMEDIATELY! You'll be hella suprised! I advise everyone else to go and get AV2 and this and watch them in a couple sittings, when you have nothing to do for like an hour... Story/Flow: 10/10 Animation: 10/10 Scenery: 10/10 Voices: 0/10 Music: 10/10 Total: 40/50 The Movies Highs: *Great Written Story (no cheesy dialogue) *No Voices (I'd like to see this done with voice acting but I think anyone who tried would just fuck it up) The Movies Lows: *No Voices (didn't bother me but everyone else it does...) *Words on screen would sometimes disappeared b4 I got to read them *Words on screen would sometimes hard to read (one line of writing was white on white) Bottom Line: If you have absolutely no patience for movies with TEXT, instead of acting, then this ain't for youz. Otherwise, it's one of the best 3dmm movies I've ever seen. EVER! NOTE TO READER: Take notice that the technical scores are just that: Technical Scores.
