Title: Catfish Director: TNT Pictures Genre: Short Pointless Action-Drama Movie Review by: MidbackMan 3/10 Review: Catfish is not what I expected. To tell the truth I had no idea what to expect of this film at all. I had no idea what it was or why I should download it. I didn't even know what genre of movie this fit into. Well, Catfish is a Pointless Action Movie, not unlike other movies like Lethal Intention and Pointless Action Movie. The animation wasn't all too bad. It wasn't horribly newbie, it included a few decent looking custom scenes and most of the animation of things like cars was done pretty well in a lot of areas where cars would swerve off the road or something. There were a lot of problems that ruined the movie for me, though. In more than a few places the movie seemed like it could've used some sound effects, which would've made the action a bit more exciting. What would've helped even more would be if the music actually felt like it matched with the action. Although some of the car chase scenes were fast, the song played in the movie just didn't feel like it felt good with the movie. Btw, I think it was a Papa Roach song... The addition of the music file also drove the file size up a bit to about 3MB total and for the length and quality of the movie, to me anyway, that's too much. While I'm talking about the music I should also mention that the music ended pretty quickly and that also didn't feel right. After the song was stopped (after playing through the first half of the movie) the rest of the movie was basically silent. Note to Directors everywhere: silence is boring. The actual action of the characters seemed sort of slow. There were a couple scenes where a couple character would be running away from others into an alley or some other room and we had to watch as the characters ran pretty slowly into the background... It ruined the action and made it seem too slow to enjoy. Anotehr downside of the animation was the way the guns and the gunshots were animated. Sometimes guns didn't move with any real effect when they were fired and didn't give any feeling of really being shot off. The only decent animation shown in some of the car chases was totally ruined by the rest of the action. "Drama" came in the second part of the movie where one of the two characters in the movie (played by the baby in 3dmm) was shot and a few flashback type of scenes of the baby and his mother and father (who was the other main character in the film) are shown. It wasn't very dramatic at all and felt very poorly done. I never like fake dramatic effects in action movies. If you do, then a better choice of movie in this style of filmmaking would be Lethal Intention. This movie just feels too unpolished. Catfish ends as a "To Be Continued" and truthfully, this movie hasn't really encouraged me to want to download the sequel if and when it is released.
