That's basically what I'm still thinking after watching it in it's completed form. The action is only sub-par. Being that there's no story other than a small little bit where a guy yells at his henchman to not fail him or it's curtains, you have to rely on the action to entertain you. Unfortunately, the action isn't that hot. The title of the film doesn't really tell a lie. It's not as blunt as "Pointless Action Movie" but throughout the whole film there are a slew of people trying to kill one guy and a bunch of others get in the way and get shot at by even more people... It's sort of absurd. I didn't know what I was watching. I assume the main character was played by Tuna Hematoma but sometimes the action revolved around characters I didn't even know. Besides not knowing who was who or why someone was being attacked by who knows, the scenery mixed with the action could be a bit confusing. One minute a guy would be running away from some bad guy and the next he's standing upright on top of a car that's going by the screen. For the most part the scenery didn't bother me and was actually pretty good. It was really the animation and action that I have a bigger problem with. If you're going to make a pointless action movie than make the action exciting like in Nick the Almighty's "Pointless Action Movie!" And to make the action exciting I think I have to know at least a little bit about what's going on. I mean, even in Litterbug 2 the action was great but you don't think for one second that it wasn't helped by the fact that the first movie at least gave us a story and reason for what was going on? The music was pretty decent in the areas that weren't action scenes. Spencer used a good bit of music changing to add a cool effect to some scenes to make some good atmosphere and even added a bit of tension. It was about the only good thing in the movie. The music during the action didn't seem to fit because the songs were too fast for the slow animation but the rest of it was good. There's a bunch of other stuff to gripe and nitpick about Hard to Kill, like how the best action scene in the entire movie - the only scene with even remotely exciting action, was removed and put as an "added bonus deleted scene." Another gripe could be that the credits said things like "Henchmen#1 as Ben Williams" instead of the other way around. But I suppose something that insignificant can be looked over. It's just that I'm looking for even more crap to yell about since I didn't like it that much AND I'm a little upset about two things: This movie is "Part 1" and the beginning of the movie makes no mention of that it will be a 'to be continued' at all (or that the movie will suck but we can't be expected for that to be present, can we?) AND to top it off, my name wasn't in the credits where it belongs... I'm not grading the movie any less for that small thing but that doesn't mean I thought the movie was any good. My only hope is now that Hard to Kill Part 2 will include some part of a story that will fill us in and will be more exciting in the action department... Story: 0/10 Animation: 6/10 Scenery: 7/10 Voices: 3/10 Music: 5/10 Total: 21/50 The Movies Highs: *It has action *Some good music use in "quiet" scenes *Decent Scenery The Movies Lows: *Crap music for action *Crap Action *Only Good Action scene was deleted & used as an "Extra" at the end of the film *Crap voices *No Story or real Dialogue Bottom Line: If you want a pointless action movie that has "okay" action then give it a whirl. If you want a story wait and see if part 2 adds one. I wouldn't watch it again. BUT for you cable modem-ers maybe you'd enjoy it since it won't take you long to download and the last action scene that was deleted actually might be worth the price of admission.
