The story, in fact starts off at the Omaha Beach Battle just as SPR did. The story has enough changes in it and is it's own kind of story, however that I don't consider it a copy. The plot does move on to a few main characters from a platoon that survived Omaha, getting a mission to rescue some British Soldiers and bring back some secret documents. I won't give away all of the things that happen but it's a very enjoyable story. The animation helped a lot too. A few occasions I thought a scene could've used just one more prop here or there or maybe I thought that the scenes needed to be more... Neat, I guess is the word. But, I found mostly that the scenery and animation of the characters in it was done well enough to more than understand what was going on and even get a sense of being there. The camera angles and views were all very nice and totally made the movie. Of all of the things in MLDiN, the only real thing I have to say that I didn't care for was the use of a female character love interest. The movie didn't go overboard with the character but I didn't know they had female field medics on Omaha Beach. I also didn't like her dialogue. One example would be when one of the men in the platoon gets injured, she immediately goes to him and says something like, "that grenade knocked him out... he's recovering." It sounds better when you read it here but all of her dialogue just seemed so hokey and stupid if you asked me. The rest of the dialogue seemed pretty good. I even liked my own lines. Yes, I'm in this movie. The volume of my character's lines seemed a little on the high side compared to the other characters that mine had conversations with and I thought something like this should've been corrected but it was a small thing and wasn't hurt too much thanks to the other actors doing a good job. Of all of this stuff one of the biggest things that stuck out was the music. One song in particular. The Theme from Predator. I love that song! And it went with this movie oh so perfectly! It even seemed to be in sync with what was happening. I don't know if that was on purpose, since I wasn't looking at the little framerate bar going by for a music symbol but I did notice how well it was used. In the beginning of the review I said that this movie looked as if it might've taken a little bit of influence from the 3dmm movie Men of Seattle. I probably don't have to tell you where I noticed this. I won't ruin the film for anyone and I'm sure that if you've seen Men of Seattle you'll recognize it too. I wanna make clear that I don't know if it is directly from Men of Seattle and that is just an observation I made. Thank You. Story: 9/10 Animation: 7/10 Scenery: 7/10 Voices: 8/10 Music: 10/10 Total: 41/50 The Movies Highs: *Nice music scores, i've never heard the Predator Theme used in a 3dmm Movie b4. *Nicely written story, good flow, and interesting characters *Some very good Directing that made the movie seem "real." The Movies Lows: *Eyedunno... I guess some animation could've used a bit of polishing but I'm just being fickle... *Dialogue in a couple places seemed weird Bottom Line: My Last Day in Normandy is a great War film in 3dmm and I would recommend it to you, especially if you liked Saving Private Ryan. I'm awarding this with the Midback's Steakhouse Seal of Approval. NOTE TO READER: Take notice that the technical scores are just that: Technical Scores.
