Title: Super Mario Brothers Director: Shaun Winfield Genre: Comedy... I guess Review by: MidbackMan 6/10 Review: When you first watch this movie you might not think it's that hot. The animation isn't anything amazing and they use the usual characters in 3dmm for the different peeps in the real Mario Bros.If you stick with it, though, you might find that it has a sort of charm to it. The story starts out the same as the N64 MB game, I believe, with the Princess mailing a letter to Mario and Luigi, inviting them to the castle and then it moves on with the predictable "bad guy kidnaps the princess" storyline. The fun of it is that occasionally it uses some cool Mario Bros. sound effects that I like. It also has music in MIDI, that's from the games. It all goes pretty well, actually. I sid the animation wasn't anything amazing but it doesn't have any premade scenery and there are some side view scrolling effects that are halfway decent. I had hoped to see more of that kind of stuff, however, but I found myself enjoying it anyway. SMB isn't too long or too short and it has a little bit of what I think could have been unintended humor. The entire cast was played by Shaun Winfield and the Princess' dialogue with her unnamed kidnapper (King Koopa/Bowser maybe?) was fairly funny. It aso had one or two little "heh" moments in it. If you're looking for a hafway decent short, not an epic but something that you know the Director had fun making then this is a pretty nice choice. I'd probably rather go watch Goomba 2 again, though.
