Title: UNO Company/Director: Kim Turley Genre: Drama-Action Reviewed by MidbackMan Scale: 5 to 10: Very Bad A film of just terrible Quality; Don't bother 11 to 20: Bad A few slightly redeeming qualities but still not worth your time 21 to 30: It's okay Very ordinary technical stats; Not worthless but not great 31 to 40: Good Above average; Usually recommended to the fan of the specific genre 41 to 50: Very Good Well worth your attention; Content and design are spectacular Review: I found UNO on the 3dmm Bulletin Board and people had already written numerous reviews for it by the time I found it. I didn't read any of the reviews before I downloaded the movie but if I didn't want to review it I would've been better off having read one or two opinions before taking the time to download and watch this movie. UNO's a pretty lame action and drama movie. The story starts off with a couple of kids who are late for school and almost immediately you can see that this movie won't be anything great. The voices at first are drowned out by some already most innapropriate music and the animation of people and other props such as cars, for instance, move really, really slowly. It's click and drag and that really pisses me off during an action movie. The story moves on when you see the kids in the car, some music is playing and then a snapshot of them is taken and then the scene switches to a scene telling us what year is next and the already innapropriate music changes most abruptly to some even worse 3dmm MIDI. It does this back and forth a couple of times and it shows that the director didn't put any effort into making the music changing at least sound... good. Anyway, along with the story, when the two kids are grown up we find out that they're cops. One day, when slowly driving down the street they pass a building and in a crappy Matrix slow-mo that everybody and his mother has attempted to copy into 3dmm, a guy is shot out of a window. Not knowing who he is or what happened inside, one of the cops gets out of his car and starts shooting him for no reason. A gunfight ensues and eventually, one of the cops dies. The other sits and grieves while the guy who shot him "speeds" away in his car. Moving along, the living cop gets a new partner and goes on a search for all of the people in the police computer database who match the wanted's description. This is the only scene that I thought held any promise. Some pretty decent music played while we saw the cops looking through their computer database and then going to their leads while the music played and we saw time go by. That's been done before on TV and movies a lot but not a lot in a 3dmm movie and I thought that made it just a little bit cooler. I had hoped after seeing that pretty cool scene that the movie might be actually getting better but it goes on from there just as badly as the beginning of the movie. Besides that one scene I can think of only one thing that I enjoyed in the movie and that was the song that was (according to the credits) written and performed by the director himself. The credits were textboxes and they seemed to be extended with useless information like "Chief Gun Animator" who just happened to be the same person as the Director but it didn't matter cuz I was just listening to that song. Umm, bottom line is below... Story: 3/10 Animation: 3/10 Scenery: 8/10 Voices: 5/10 Music: 4/10 Total: 23/50 The Movies Highs: *Nice Scenery *Song in End Credits was nice... The Movies Lows: *Lame Story *Slow & Boring animation *Bad use of Music Bottom Line: UNO is a promising movie but has some really stupid flaws that may keep you from wanting to use your time watching it. Use your judgment. NOTE TO READER: Take notice that the technical scores are just that: Technical Scores. The review will contain an opinion of how enjoyable the movie was overall.
